Seminar on “Reducing Costs through Low-Carbon Office Operation”

23.11.2011

According to the Hong Kong Ecological Footprint Report 2010 issued by WWF – Hong Kong, Hong Kong people are living beyond the Earth’s limits. According to the report, should everyone in the world live a similar lifestyle to that of Hong Kong people, we would need the equivalent resources of 2.2 Earths. Hong Kong has the 45th largest Ecological Footprint per person compared to 150 countries with populations larger than 1 million people in 2007. More than 60 % of the final energy consumption in Hong Kong is consumed by the commercial activities. It is therefore important for companies in Hong Kong to take active steps to reduce carbon emission in their operations in order to truly achieve environmental protection. Many examples show that having low-carbon office operation can save costs and achieve business sustainability in the long-run.
