30.03.2012

The Hong Kong Council of Social Service organized a community visit on 30 March 2012 for the representatives of Caring Companies. They visited two self-financed service units under Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association (hereinafter called HKYWCA), namely The Farm for Healthy Ageing and Ellen Li Leisure Activity Centre. The visit enabled the participants to learn more about how to further utilize and specialize the knowledge and experience of retiree to contribute to the society.

Some 15 Caring Company representatives joined the visit. During the visitation, they understood more about the service background and how the service support retired people to develop their third age. The elderly volunteers of the farm also introduced how they managed the farm. Besides, the participants visited the Ellen Li Leisure Activity Centre that aims at providing supportive services to the retiree.

Through this visit, the participants were inspired by the positive spirit of the elders and could share with colleagues on possible opportunities of community participation after retirement.
