Community Visit 2014: Promoting Business Sector to Create a Barrier- free Community

Creating a barrier-free Community depends on support and cooperation among different sectors, including business corporations. The Caring Company Scheme added a new special category namely u0022List of Barrier-free Companies/Organisationsu0022 last year. Companies could support proactively to create a barrier-free environment and culture by understanding the needs of disabled people in accessibility.

The Caring Company Scheme organised a community visit with around 20 company representatives to The Hong Kong Society of Rehabilitation (HKSR) on 25 July 2014. The visit enabled participants to understand the needs of people with disabilities and the possible additional facilities for them in workplace and /or public area. At the same time, participants also had the opportunity to learn a series of vocational rehabilitation, job training and the ongoing community support services to the members provided by HKSR.

During the visit, we experienced its Easy-Access Transport Services – Easy-Access Coach’s facilities and visited its rehabilitation services – Centre on Health and Wellness. Participants were eager to interact with HKSR’s representatives and gained a lot from their sharing.

With over 50 years of experience, HKSR have provided various responsive and quality rehabilitation services for people with disability, chronic illness or problem of aging.
